New to Cheviot

Hello new friend,

I'm glad that you found this page.  My name is Amy Morand.  I am the marketing director here at Cheviot United Methodist Church.  I'd like to give you a quick introduction to Cheviot United Methodist Church - aka CUMC.

Cheviot United Methodist Church is located on the west side of the Cincinnati, Ohio area, in a small town named Cheviot.  Our members come from near and far away to worship with us.  There is space for you and we'd love to have you join us on Sunday morning or for any of our activities in the near future.

At CUMC you have two different opportunities to worship God every Sunday.

  1.  9:20 -  a traditional service, held in the Sanctuary (the big room closest to the street), which includes:
    • a traditional church atmosphere of pews, pulpit, and preaching
    • the chance to connect with other children of God of all ages and stages in their faith walk
    • a pertinent message based on the Bible
    • organ music of the highest quality
    • several choirs (not all at once)
      • adult
      • children
      • bells
      • special ensembles and solos
    • a children's message
  2. 11:20, a contemporary service, held in the Fellowship Hall (the big room in the back of the building), which includes:
    • a casual church atmosphere of seating around tables or on padded folding chairs, and coloring books for the kids
    • a chance to connect with other children of God of all ages and stages in their faith walk
    • a pertinent message based on the Bible
    • a praise team with electronic keyboard, drums, guitars, and singers
    • contemporary Christian songs that you've probably heard on one of the local Christian radio stations
    • video clips, skits and other multi media presentations

FAQ

When should I arrive?  Traditional service come 5 to 10 minutes early.  Contemporary service be there by 11:20 and you will be plenty early.

What should I wear?  Business casual  for the traditional service.  Business casual to casual  for the contemporary service.

Where do I enter?  The front doors for the traditional service.  The first door off the back parking lot or the door by the bell tower for the contemporary service.

What about childcare?  Childcare is provided for infants thru kindergarten  during both services.  Just ask a greeter or usher to direct you to the proper room. 

I can't do stairs, can I still get to worship?  CUMC is almost completely flat with handicapped access for both services and easy seating for both services.

I've never been to a Methodist church before, will I feel comfortable?  Many of our members and visitors have come from other Christian denominations and different traditions of worship.  Our common bond is Bible based teaching and a genuine love for each other and our Lord.  Our worship style is easy to follow.  .
